Lewisham Clock Tower

Erection date: 1897

Inscription

{On the bronze plaque:}
This clock tower was erected to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of the reign of Her Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria 1837 - 1897.
The cost was met by public subscription supplemented by a grant of £500 from a fund bequeathed to the parish by Michael Thomas Whitehall of Catford.
The site was given by the Lewisham District Board of Works by whom the tower will be maintained.

In 1995 the tower was moved slightly from its original location to accommodate road layout changes. A shows it in its original uncluttered position with lamps that have since been removed.
