Erection date: /5/2000

Inscription

{Beside a badge with the text: ' L Lions International, We Serve'

The tree in the central reservation of Park Lane was planted by the London (Host) Lions Club to commemorate 50 years of Lionism in the British Isles, May 2000.

Site: Lionism in the British Isles (1 memorial)

W1, Park Lane

The wall this plaque is on possibly belongs to the Inter-Continental Hotel but there was another building here in 1950; probably a hotel or pub. Park Lane was widened in the 1960s and a number of buildings in this area demolished. The wall is very dull so rather than give a long shot of that we decided to photo the reservation that holds the tree mentioned on the plaque. However, even having found a picture of this type of tree we still can't tell which tree it is. We'd need to get up close and check the leaf shapes but the traffic doesn't encourage that (weren't we clever to get a pic of Park Lane with no traffic?).
