{For the list of 29 names see Subjects commemorated.}

This close-up photo comes from the . From that photo we'd guess that the plaque has about 10 - 15 names on it, in a single column, with some text top and bottom.

Our very helpful contact at London Transport Museum, curator Simon Murphy, sent us a copy of a 1921 article in the staff magazine 'News of TOT' which reported on the unveiling of this plaque and, importantly gives the list of names which we have transcribed here. That article has another photo of the event and provides some statistics: “From this garage 378 men went to fight; of these, 29 laid down their lives … its men gained one DCM, six MMs one Croix de Guerre, one Meritorious Medal …”.

The article also has “The tablet is from the design of Mr Ernest Frost of Croydon and has been executed in grey Peterhead granite by Messrs Maxwell Bros. of Brixton Hill.”  What it doesn’t give is the top and tail of the plaque – the text preceding and following the list of names. Oh, well, you can’t have everything.
