{In the top frieze:}
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

{Four garlanded roundels set in gold mosaic carry the names of the campaigns:}

France
Italy
Gallipoli
Jutland
Heligoland
Falkland
Zeebrugge
Palestine
India
Africa 

{The middle roundel contains a shield bearing the emblem of an angel holding a staff. Around the edge:}
Erected by public subscription by the inhabitants of Wood Green 1920.

{In the frieze below the roundels:}
In memory also of those who gave their lives 1939 - 1945.

{In the central stone panel:}
To the undying memory of the men of Wood Green who gave their lives in the Great War 1914 - 1919.
{This is followed by an oblong indentation from which a small metal plaque might have been removed.}

{Six bronze panels carry the list of names of 981 men, fallen in WW1:}
