Albert Chevalier

Music hall comedian, singer and musical theatre actor. Born at St Ann's Villas where the plaque now is, to a French father and Welsh mother. Married Florence, daughter of George Leybourne.

His full name is always given as Albert Onésime Britannicus Gwathveoyd Louis Chevalier but the says "his name at birth was registered simply as Albert Chevalier". He seems never to have used this extraordinary name so when and why he acquired it is an unexplained mystery.

Died at home, Lake House, 38 Woodberry Down, Stoke Newington, which we believe no longer exists.
