Arnold and Verna Rosen

Group

From : "The Rosens were long term residents at Cromwell Lodge, 30 Newington Green (near the north-east corner) who attended Newington Green School, later becoming school governors. They were associated with the school for over 60 years, and the library is dedicated to them. Arnold was an Islington Alderman and keen local historian."

From a : "The applicants are a family with a young daughter who have been living and working in Hackney  for 15 years. Nick Rosen is a writer-producer and Fiona Banner a fine artist. Both are now also  employers within the borough. This has precedent in Nick’s grandparents who settled in Hackney  before the war and built a successful clothing business in the borough. Nick’s uncle - Islington Alderman Arnold Rosen - was an educationalist and a plinth in his honour was erected in Newington Green where he lived until his death."

is written by someone who rented 30 Newington Green from the Rosens in 1961: "... moved into 30 Newington Green, the fascinating old home we had rented from Arnold and Verna Rosen; he was a biochemist at St Mary's Hospital Medical College."

, Autumn 2001 says that broadcaster Michael Rosen is Alderman Arnold Rosen's son but contradicts that.
