Battle of Trafalgar

A sea battle that took place off Cape Trafalgar on the south west coast of Spain. Nelson led the British fleet to a decisive victory which permanently removed the threat of invasion of England by the armies of Napoleon Bonaparte. Nelson was fatally wounded at the battle, and his body brought back to England for a state funeral.

Trafalgar Day is recognised by those involved in sea-faring, see Lighthouse Automation.
