Founded to preserve the battle sites of Britain. The founding motivation was the fact that the battlefield of Naseby, (a perfectly preserved site of the battle of the English Civil War), was to be bisected by a motorway.

Died in WW1 serving in the 22nd Battalion, The London Regiment.
A line infantry regiment of the English and later the British Army. It was amalgamated with the East Surrey Regiment, to form a single county regiment called the Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment.
