Bishop Peter Amigo

Bishop. Born Peter Emmanuel Amigo at Waterport Street, Gibraltar. Ordained 1888. Consecrated as the 6th Bishop of Southwark on 25 March 1904. Founded the John Fisher School, Purley in 1929. Died at St George's Cathedral. have film of his funeral procession which shows the bombed-out St George's Cathedral, where he is buried, in the crypt.

Amigo was ordained in 1888 and in 1938, in recognition of the golden jubilee (50 years), Pope Pius XI "conferred upon him the personal title of Archbishop". This quote is from and we understand it to mean that the title (the 'arch' part) was an honorific.
