Brian Paul Florey

Cyclist killed by collision with a lorry while cycling along Ripple Road (the A13) mid-morning on a Monday. Aged 35, at the time he was training for the 2013 London-to-Paris charity cycle ride for Macmillan. He was a mobile repair mechanic who worked on fire engines, one of which carried his coffin. The driver of the lorry was initially arrested but later it was decided to bring no charges.

Our colleague Andrew Behan has research the man. He was born on 26 July 1977, the youngest child of Brian J. Foley and Janet K. Foley née Wood, his birth being registered in the 3rd quarter of 1977 in the Newham registration district. His elder brothers were Iain John Florey (b.1972) and Colin Mark Florey (b.1975).

In June 2000 he married Bonita Mann (b.1978) in the Barking & Dagenham registration district and they were to have two daughters: Holli May Florey whose birth was registered in June 2002 in the Havering registration district and Lauren Kaye Florey whose birth was registered in June 2004 in the Redbridge registration district.

Electoral registers from 2003 to 2006 show him and his wife listed at 44 Chaplin Road, Dagenham, RG9 6EL and from 2008 to 2010 at 42 Leigh Road, Canvey Island, SS8 0AP.
