Group

Founded as the Provincial Medical and Surgical Association (PMSA) by Sir Charles Hastings in Worcester.

In 1836 Dr George Webster founded an organisation called the British Medical Association. From : "Its purpose was political in that it intended to instigate legislation to improve the state of general practice." When it was dissolved in 1845 the PMSA quickly took over the name.
