Charles Sargeant Jagger

Sculptor. Born Yorkshire. Started as an apprentice metal engraver for Mappin & Webb in Sheffield, then went to art school and studied sculpture under Lanteri. Served in WW1 in the Artists Rifles, awarded the Military Cross. Specialised in war memorials and moved towards the Art Deco style. Died, suddenly and only 49, at home, 67 Albert Bridge Road.

Other works in London:  The Kelham Rood in St John the Devine Kennington, 4 magnificent allegorical stone figures at Imperial Chemical House on Millbank (see for photos), St.George and Britannia at entrance to Thames House on Millbank, and the .
