Charles Sargeant Jagger

Sculptor. Born Yorkshire. Started as an apprentice metal engraver for Mappin & Webb in Sheffield, then went to art school and studied sculpture under Lanteri. Served in WW1 in the Artists Rifles, awarded the Military Cross. Specialised in war memorials and moved towards the Art Deco style. Died, suddenly and only 49, at home, 67 Albert Bridge Road.
