The first edition of the Daily Express was published in Fleet Street. It was one of the first papers in Britain to carry gossip, sports, women's features and a crossword.

is used as a location in the 1961 film 'The Day the Earth Caught Fire'. The exteriors and the lobby scenes are shot on site; the newsroom scenes were shot on a set, carefully reconstructed from photos of the actual space.
