Letter written by Oscar Wilde to Lord Alfred Douglas whilst he was imprisoned in Reading Gaol. The title means 'from the depths' and recounts the relationship that the pair shared. It criticises Douglas's vanity, and Wilde's own weakness in giving in to it. The second part of the letter describes his spiritual development whilst in prison, and his move to a deeper belief in Christianity.
