John Colet was the only surviving child of the 22 that his mother bore. Founded St Paul's School in 1509. Churchman and educational pioneer. Born London, son of a Lord Mayor whose wealth he inherited. Member of the Mercers' Company. Dean of St Paul's Cathedral. Friend of Erasmus.
