The confirms his full name as Dugald Trystan Julius Herber Gonsal and that he was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the June 2000 Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to highway and civil engineering. However, we believe that they may have shown his fourth forename incorrectly as Herber, whereas the show the spelling as Herbert.
This genealogy website states that he was a son of Herbert Gonsal and Zena Gonsal née Caspersz and he had seven siblings: Jeanne Barbara Aurora Gonsal (b. 20 June 1936, Ceylon - d. 20 March 1987, Ibadan, Nigeria), Russell Llewellyn Lionel Placidud Gonsal (b. Ceylon), Alistair Trevor Giles Gonsal (b. Ceylon), Rowenna Abigail Rosalia Gonsal (b. Ceylon), Aloma Fleurette Therese Gonsal (b. Ceylon), Cheryl Pyreene Rita Gonsal (b. 11 November 1944 Ceylon - d. 27 February 1994) and Christopher Rhys Gonsal (b. Ceylon).
He was first married to Pamela Rose Angela Van Dort in Bambalapitiya, Colombo, Western Province, Ceylon, who was daughter of Victor Van Dort and Eleanor Van Dort née Van Hoff. They had three children Karen Beverley-Ann Gonsal (b. Colombo), Nadine Zandra Josefa Gonsal (b. Colombo) and Kimberley Imogen Debra Gonsal (b.1964, Hammersmith).
Electoral registers in 1965 show him living at 58 Warden Avenue, Harrow, with his wife. Also shown on the register was his brother Russell and sister Rowenna. Telephone directories in 1968 list him still at this address, but those in 1980 and 1982 show him at 337 Torbay Road, Harrow.
His second marriage was to Juliana Rosina Harriet Manley in Camden. She was the daughter of Samuel & Mary Manley and she had been born in Barnstaple, Devon.
