Edmund Barnes

Edmund Barnes

Local politician, school teacher and magistrate in St Pancras. Born in Blandford, Dorset.

1869 became headmaster of St Clement Danes School and settled in St. Pancras, living there for the rest of his life. Organist at St Clement Danes Church 1869-82. The first Mayor of St Pancras, 1900-02. Bequeathed a legacy which continues today as the Edmund Barnes Charity for Organ and Choir Fund.
