Edward Latymer

Wealthy lawyer, merchant, official and a Puritan. Born in Freston, near Ipswich. Much of his life is obscure, but in 1594 he was appointed deputy and clerk to the Receiver General of the High Court. He was also the Clerk and Attorney of the Courts of Wards and Liveries, founded by Henry VIII to settle questions of inheritance.

Unmarried and childless, he left all his land and properties in Hammersmith and Edmonton to charitable causes. His will established both the Latymer and Latymer Upper schools.  gives the terms of his will, dated 16 March 1624 , as it relates to the Latymer School.
