Ernest George Gillick

Sculptor. Born Bradford and studied at Nottingham School of Art where he met his wife, who also studied sculpture there.  See Mary Gillick for more information.

Other work in London includes: An allegorical group on the National Westminster Bank, 1 Prince's Street (the north-east corner of the Bank junction) (1929-32). have images and an assessment.  This group includes a magic square - the second we have found in London - see Haines House Bloomsbury for the other. Gillick also created the lovely Asia and Britannia caryatids on the Brazilian Embassy, Cockspur Street (1918). We've found references to work on the Royal Academy façade, figures on Marble Arch and also at Selfridges but we have no specifics.
