Fireman James Anthony Bardens

James Anthony Bardens was born circa 1938. He married Jean Iris Frost in the 1st quarter of 1958 in the Lewisham Registration District, London.

He was serving as a Fireman in the London Fire Brigade when, together with Station Officer Thomas Carter, he died on 12 February 1962 from injuries resulting from being hit by a passing train whilst dealing with a small fire involving a railway bridge over Wyndham Road, London, SE5.

His death was registered as aged 24 years in the 1st quarter of 1962 in the Camberwell Registration District, London.

Probate records show that his address had been 90 Bowen Drive, Kingswood Estate, London, SE21. Administration of his estate was granted on 22 May 1962 to his widow and his effects totalled £555-0s-0d.

He is shown as 'Fm James Anthony Bardens' on the memorial plaque on the screen wall of the London Fire Brigade Memorial in Highgate Cemetery, Swain's Lane, London, N6. He is also commemorated on the National Firefighters Memorial at Sermon Lane, London, EC4, on  and on the .
