General Sir Philip Chetwode

Field Marshal Philip Walhouse Chetwode, 1st Baron Chetwode, 7th Baronet of Oakley, GCB, OM, GCSI, KCMG, DSO, GCStJ. Senior Army officer. Served in the Second Boer War and in WW1, on the Western front and then in the Sinai and Palestine campaign where he took part in actions in Gaza, Beersheba and the Battle of Jerusalem.

1945-47 was Vice President of the Joint Committee: Order of St John of Jerusalem & the British Red Cross Society. This was after it had been closed down as a war-time organisation and probably when it was being redirected as a charitable organisation.

Born Westminster, died Marylebone.
