A luxury department store on Brompton Road.
Initially established by Charles Henry Harrod at 228 Borough High Street. Moved into a small shop at the current address in 1849, and expanded rapidly. Destroyed by fire in 1883 and rebuilt. 1898 England's first escalator was installed. The store was acquired by House of Fraser in 1959, which in turn was purchased by the Fayed brothers in 1985. Mohamed Al-Fayed was chairman. Sold to Qatar Holdings in 2010.
