According to the  this company was originally formed on 2 March 1910 as Henry Boot & Sons (Civil Engineering) Limited until 31 December 1979 when it became Henry Boot Civil Engineering Limited. It continued to trade as such until 7 June 1984 when its name was changed to Henry Boot Southern Limited. Yet a further change of name occurred on 1 December 1997 when it finally became Southernend Limited.

The company was dissolved on 7 November 2023 when their registered office was located at 93 Queen Street, Sheffield, S1 1WF. 

The company was shown as 'HENRY BOOT SOUTHERN LTD' on the memorial stone at the Royal Free Hospital, Old Royal Free Square, London, N1.
