John Hervey

John Hervey

Courtier and politician. He fought for the royalists in the English Civil War, and served as MP for Hythe, 1661-79. From 1662 until his death, he was treasurer and receiver to Queen Catherine of Braganza, wife of King Charles II. Uncle to John Hervey, 1st Earl of Bristol.
