John Locke

Philosopher. Born Somerset. Wrote 'An Essay Concerning Human Understanding' and 'Two Treatises of Government'. 1693 wrote 'Some Thoughts Concerning Education' saying  "I think I may say that of all the men we meet with, nine parts of ten are what they are, good or evil, useful or not, by their education."

Died at home at Oates, High Laver, Essex.
