Killed in or near Delville Wood. Brother to William Alexander and Norman Cairns. From : "Laurance Grant Robertson .... qualified as a chartered accountant and worked for the Local Government Board on the District Audit staff. He was commissioned 2nd Lieut. in the Army Ordnance Department in February 1915 and transferred, at his request, to the King’s Own Scottish Borderers in July that year, seeking front-line action. He was killed during the course of the Battle of the Somme on 30th July 1916, and his name is among those classed as ‘missing’ on the Thiepval Memorial."
