Lord Edward Somerset

Categories: Armed Forces

Lord Edward Somerset

Soldier and elder brother of Lord Raglan.

From : "... in 1815 they {the Life Guards} were part of The Household Brigade at the Battle of Waterloo under Major-General Lord Edward Somerset." And the Life Guards are part of the Household Cavalry, the mounted regiment of which was based at Knightsbrige Barracks, now Hyde Park Barracks, since 1795. All of which explains why we think the "Somerset" bust on display at the Hyde Park Barracks is this Lord Somerset.
