Mary Geraldine Murphy

Senior Purser Mary Geraldine Murphy was born on 14 May 1937 in Dublin, Ireland, one of the six children of Robert and Margaret Murphy. 

Our Picture Source and the gives more information about her including that she started working with Pan American World Airways on 4 March 1963. She died, aged 51 years, on 21 December 1988 whilst working as the senior purser aboard Pan AM Flight 103 travelling from London (Heathrow) Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York City, when it exploded over Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.

She is also commemorated on both the  and the  that are at Dryfesdale Cemetery, Dumfries Road, Lockerbie, DG11 1HZ, as well as on the in Arlington National Cemetery, 1 Memorial Avenue, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.

Probate records show that her address had been 1 Cranebrook, Manor Road, Twickenham, TW2 5DJ and that when administration of her estate was granted on 10 April 1989 her effects totalled £102,700. She was survived by her parents and her five siblings Máiréad, Bernadette, Patricia, Joseph and Robert.
