Melanie Klein

Psychoanalyst and pioneer of child analysis. Born with the surname Reizes in Vienna. Her 1903 marriage to Arthur Klein led to the end of her education, 3 children, frequent home moves and divorce in 1923. She came to London in 1926 and stayed. Her ideas differed from those of Sigmund and Anna Freud and this caused a split in the British Psychoanalytical Society which remains to this day. Died at University College Hospital.
