Patrick MacDowell

Sculptor. Born Belfast. Came to London age 14 to be apprenticed to a coach-builder. The coach-builder went bankrupt and MacDowell's sculptural talents were spotted.  Died at home in Wood Lane, Highgate, where the plaque is.

Other work in London include: various portrait statues in the Palace of Westminster; the group "Europe" at the Albert Memorial.
