Sir Peter Reginald Frederick Hall CBE was a theatre and film director who was born on 22 November 1930 in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. He founded the and was its first artistic director, 1960-8 and was the Director of the National Theatre, 1973–88.

The 1939 England and Wales Register shows him living with his parents at , Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
