Roland Wynne

Roland Wynne

Son of Sir David Wynne.  tells us "The boy featured in the artwork was modelled upon Roland David Amadeus Wynne (Roly for short) who was 11 years old at the time and later went on to play bass in a rock band known as Ozric Tentacles."

in 1983 Roly Wynne and his brother Ed were founding members of Ozric Tentacles. Roly's later life was plagued with difficulties and he died by suicide in 1999, a tragic development for the Wynne and Ozric families.

The band is still (2022) working, recording and touring.

2024: Steve Harpur pointed out that the does not actually show Roly, “as that is the band line-up after he left”. Steve provided a link to , “This has a smiling Roly on the far right, plus his older brother Ed on the far left. This photo is from around 1989-1990 according to the Facebook comment from Marcus Diess (3rd from left). (The ‘mid-90's’ text on the photo itself is incorrect, as Roly left in 1992).“
