Rotherhithe Tunnel

Rotherhithe Tunnel

Road tunnel crossing under the River Thames, connecting Rotherhithe to the Ratcliff district of Limehouse. Designed by Sir Maurice Fitzmaurice, it was constructed using both a tunnelling 'shield' and the 'cut and cover' method, and is 4.860 feet (1,481 metres) in length. The photograph shows the construction of the tunnel. and have both walked the tunnel so we don't have to.
