Royal Holloway College

Founded as a women-only college by Thomas Holloway in 1879 on the Mount Lee Estate in Egham. Sir Nikolaus Pevsner called the original college building (now listed Grade 1) "the most ebullient Victorian building in the Home Counties".

In 1900 it and Bedford College each became a constituent college of the University of London.

1945-65 the college began accepting male students, first post-grads and then undergrads. In 1985 Bedford College and Royal Holloway College merged.
