The hotel stood at 6 Kensington High Street, at the corner with Palace Avenue.
Designed by Basil Champneys and built in 1892-93 on the site of the King’s Arms Hotel (basically a large tavern). 's excellent page on the hotel at this location has photos of its 3 manifestations. The 1892 Royal Palace Hotel was demolished in 1961 and replaced, 1965, with the Richard Seifert-designed Royal Garden Hotel. That neat but boring modernist structure has since been given a post-modern facelift.

We wonder if the 1956 fire was extensive enough to have contributed to the decision to demolish in 1961.
