Royal Scots Fusiliers

The Royal Scots Fusiliers was a line infantry regiment of the British Army, founded in 1678, that operated across various British campaigns until 20 January 1959 when it was merged with the Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment) to form the Royal Highland Fusiliers. The regiment was known for its recruitment in south-west Scotland and its long history before its amalgamation.
