Surgeon and anatomist. Born Norfolk. Studied at St Thomas's. 1800 he was appointed surgeon to Guy's Hospital. Fellow of the Royal Society. Professor of comparative anatomy to the Royal College of Surgeons. Died at his surgical practice in Conduit Street, and is buried in the chapel of Guy's Hospital. In his will he endowed an essay competition at Guy's.
