Sir Edward Frankland

Chemist. Born in Catterall, Lancashire. He was an originator of organometallic chemistry, and an expert in the analysis and quality of water. A member of the second Royal Commission on the pollution of rivers, and studied London's water quality for decades. Also one of the discoverers of helium.

Died while on holiday in Norway.
