Sir Emery Walker

Process engraver and typographer. Born at 10 Pickering Terrace, Paddington. He took an active role in many artistic organisations, including the 'Art Workers Guild' and the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. His collection of 16th century typefaces, inspired his close friend William Morris, to found the Kelmscott Press. In conjunction with the bookbinder Thomas Cobden-Sanderson, he set up the Doves Press. Knighted in 1930. Died at his home. 7 Riverside Terrace, Hammersmith.
