Sir Terence Rattigan

Playwright. Born Terence Mervyn Rattigan at 100 Cornwall Gardens, London. He achieved early theatrical success with his comedy 'French Without Tears' in 1936. This was followed by 'The Winslow Boy', 'The Browning Version' and 'Separate Tables'. His style fell out of favour with the advent of the 'Angry Young Men' in the 1950s, but is now enjoying a revival. Knighted in 1971. He died in Bermuda.
