Southwark Cathedral

Its full name is the Cathedral and Collegiate Church of St Saviour and St Mary Overie.

Any claim that there was a convent here before 1106 are apparently unproven. 1106 - 1538 it was the church of the an Augustinian Southwark Priory. After the dissolution of the monasteries it became a parish church and then with the creation of the Church of England Diocese of Southwark It was given cathedral status in 1905.

The building still has the gothic structure built between 1220 and 1420, and the nave is late 19th-century.
