Spring Song by Mendelssohn

Categories: Music / songs

Media

One of the short lyrical piano works in 'Songs Without Words' by Mendelssohn. Allegretto grazioso: 'Frühlingslied' ('Spring Song') (A major), MWV U 161. Song no.6 in Book 5, Op. 62 (1842–44).

This was written while Mendelssohn was staying with friends at Dane House. Less than 3 minutes long, Mendelssohn (possibly) originally named the piece "Camberwell Green", referring to the area in which Dane House was, not to the place "Camberwell Green" (almost a mile away).
