Erection date: 13/4/1994

Inscription

{We've not seen the memorial but apparently it reads:}
The nation gives thanks.

An information board in the garden tells us about a memorial but we can't find it. Can anyone help?

"On the 13th April 1994 the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. John Major MP, unveiled a commemorative stone to honour the 50th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy on the 6th June 1944."

2011: confirms that this plaque existed in 1994. It was part of a plan to lay the gardens out as a D-Day garden of thanksgiving but that never happened so perhaps the plaque was never installed. Surely it wasn't destroyed - it must be somewhere. The hunt continues.
