Plaque

Abney House

Inscription

London Borough of Hackney
The gateway to Abney House which stood here 1700 - 1843.
Issac Watts, hymn-writer and poet, stayed here 1734 - 1748.

Oops! The plaque has 'Issac' rather than the more common 'Isaac' and we can't find any support for this odd spelling. Hope no one lost their job over it.
