A pair of these markers is attached to each side of the bridge, with CP always to the north and BP to the south. Chelsea Parish and Battersea Parish. Oddly they are not exactly mid-bridge but a few yards to the south.
Not really memorials but so unusual and attractive we had to have them.

Charlotte Mew, 1869 - 1928, poet, lived here, 1869 - 1890. Marchmont Association
Harry Mallin, 1892 - 1969, policeman and Olympic boxing champion in 1920 and 1924, lived and worked here. English Heritage
AMDG stands for Ad maiorem Dei gloriam, the Latin motto of the Catholic Jesuits, meaning "For the greater glory of God"
Both the 1918 and the 1945 events caused death and destruction at the north east wing of the Hospital, where there is another plaque.
Immediately below this plaque is another: 'Civic Trust Award, 1998'.
