Dame Anna Neagle, film and stage actress, 1904 - 1986, and her husband Herbert Wilcox C.B.E., film producer and director, 1890 - 1977, lived here, 1950 - 1964. Unveiled by HRH the Princess Royal on 30 May 1996.

The plaque is on the side of the building in South Street.

On the west facade of this building, above an entrance door, there is a crest with "1931", almost certainly the date of the building, and a relief showing a city gate, which looks very like the one at National Provincial Bank in Bishopsgate.
