Apollo Victoria - Charlie Chaplin

Site: Apollo Victoria - Charlie Chaplin (1 memorial)

SW1, Wilton Road

The Chaplins on this large cinema, built in 1928 by E. Walmsley Lewis, were brought to our attention by where you can also see some lovely "frothy" reliefs showing cinema audiences of the time, one of which is just visible to the left of our photo.

Our close-up is from Wilton Road but due to never-ending road-works there our building photo is of the Vauxhall Bridge Road frontage, where there is a second not quite identical Charlie, also near the entrance.
