This statue was unveiled by Shri Narendra Modi, the Hon Prime Minister of India on 14 Nov 2015.

Basaveshwara, 1134 - 1168, pioneer of democracy and social reformer.
Erected with the support of The Basaveshwara Foundation, The Government of Karnataka, India and Councillor Dr Neeraj Patil, Mayor of the London Borough of Lambeth, 2010-2011.

{Each of the sides carries a large deep relief depicting a scene in the life.}

The project to erect the statue was masterminded by Dr Patil.
