Breathing sculpture

Inscription

{Etched into the glass is a spiral of continuous text, composed by the sculptor:}
life turns and turns on the crystal glass
breathing in our body

silence is a voice, our voice
silence is a body, our body

life turns and turns on the crystal glass
breathing in our body

I invite you to breathe
I invite you to listen to the silence

This memorial has its own webpage: .
The 10 metre high inverted glass spire (or plastic beaker) is lit at night and "in tandem with the 10 o'clock news bulletin" a light beam is projected upwards from its base.

Site: Breathing sculpture (1 memorial)

W1, Langham Street

This building is the new east wing of Broadcasting House, a destination known in cabbie slang as "the tripe shop".

Sculpturally the memorial is intended to relate to the radio mast on the roof of Broadcasting House (a non-working decorative reproduction of the original short-wave aerial mast) and the spire of All Soul's church. Conversely our photograph shows a relationship to the Post Office Tower and the cranes of the still growing building.

See Keith Moon for how this corner used to look.
